The Consortium on Georgia History will sponsor a one-day conference on
Saturday, February 10, 2001, at Armstrong Atlantic State University, from 9
a.m to 2 p.m. The Consortium invites all those interested in the study of
Georgia's history to attend the meeting and help us chart the future course
of the organization.

Catherine O. Badura (Valdosta State University) on the Georgia novelist
Corra White Harris
Tom Scott (Kennesaw State University) on the rebirth of the Republican
Party in Georgia in the 1960's
Mary Ella Engel (Graduate Student, University of Georgia) on the 1879
lynching of Mormon Elder
Joseph Standing in north Georgia
Mary Ellen Wilson (Middle Georgia) on the effects of deforestation in the
Altamaha River Basin
Lee Ann Caldwell (Augusta State University) on the journal of Elizabeth
Johnson Harris and race relations in the Hill section of Augusta.
Keynote address: William F. Holmes (University of Georgia and former
Secretary-Treasurer of the Southern Historical Association) on Georgia's
timber industry.

The Consortium on Georgia History is a joint effort of several centers for
Georgia studies amd departments of history around the state, including
Augusta State's Center for the Study of Georgia History, Kennesaw State's
Center for Regional History & Culture, and history departments/faculty at
the University of Georgia, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Armstrong
Atlantic, and Georgia Perimeter. The Consortium invites participation by
all institutions and individuals throughout the state with an interest in
promoting the study of Georgia history.
