Nature and Environmental Writers - College and University Educators (NEW-CUE), a non-profit, environmental education organization, invites submissions for possible presentation at the first Annual Writers' Workshop and Conference in honor of Rachel Carson, June 12-15, 2001 in Boothbay Harbor, ME. New and established writers, instructors, and practitioners are encouraged to send examples of their work: essays, poems, children's literature and selections from fiction and journalism, illustrating the environmental issues raised by Rachel Carson who blended science with a lyrical appreciation of nature. The event will be both a scholarly and a social occasion, and we welcome submissions that represent a 15-minute reading by the author. Deadline extended through November 15, 2000.
