I am creating a panel for the 2002 Berkshire conference on the history of women. The panel will focus on the topic of women and British imperialism in the nonWestern world. I welcome proposals dealing with issues such as the relationship between gender and empire, religion, ethnicity, or nationalism. Cross-cultural or comparative approaches are especially encouraged.

The deadline for tbe panel proposal is Dec. 15, so I will need a cover sheet, full contact information (address, phone, fax, and email), title, and one-page abstract from each panelist by no later than Dec. 1, 2000.

The conference itself is June 6-9, 2002.
