The Conference on Illinois History will take place on Friday and Saturday, October 13 and 14 at the Springfield Hilton Hotel in Springfield, Illinois. Sessions on early Illinois, women, abolitionists, Mormons, Germans, labor, science and medicine, memory and commemoration, historic preservation, legal, Chicago, news reporting, political scandals, music, and Civil War Round Tables will be offered. Professor Brooks D. Simpson, author of _Ulysses S. Grant: Triumph Over Adversity, 1822-1865_ will be the banquet speaker. Registration is $15 for adults and $5 for students. Banquet tickets are $35.
