Our fifth annual conference on millennialism will include 57 papers, which will cover a range of temporal and geographic topics, ranging from millennialism in the Byzantine state to the Raelian apocalyptic belief.
The focus of this year's conference, however, is on those millennial manisfestations that contribute to the starting of public transformational waves, to the kinds of movements which give rise to the NRMs and voluntary associations, and, finally to the various landings that such movements have upon returning to the world of normal time, stable human relations, and realistic expectations about long-term human behavior.
Highlights include:
On Saturday evening, the conference will begin with a "Night of Millennial Music" and will include Sufi, Shaker and Gospel music.
On Sunday evening, Stewart Brand, author of "The Whole Earth Catalog" and "The Clock of the Long Now," will give the keynote speech.
Monday evening will be highlighted by Kali's Follies: Midlife at the Millennium, a one-woman play by Lou Montgomery, performance artist and expressive arts psychotherapist.
