CALL FOR PAPERS

The conference theme has been chosen to reflect Liverpool’s role both as an ocean port and as the hub for a wide variety of transhipment trades, coastal and otherwise. Contributions on this theme are invited over as wide a period as possible in the North Atlantic and Baltic region. Subsidiary themes will include pilotage, the movement of cargoes within ports and intermodal integration between seaborne and land / river borne traffic.

As usual at AHNS conferences there will be at least one field trip and various social activities. Additional visits will be arranged for accompanying persons if there is sufficient demand.

Proposals, outlining the scope and argument of the proposed paper and the main sources used, together with a mini-CV, should be submitted by 1 December 2000.
