This conference, sponsored by The Center for the Study of War and Society, Department of History, University of Tennessee, will examine the history of the American veteran from the Revolutionary War to the Vietnam Era from a variety of disciplinary frameworks. It will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Knoxville, Tennessee on Sunday, November 12 and Monday, November 13, 2000.
The Keynote Address, "The Best Years of Their Lives" will be delivered by Thomas Childers, University of Pennsylvania, on November 12.
The Luncheon Address, "Injury, Identity, and the State in the Experience of Disabled Veterans in Western Europe, North America, and Australia" will be offered by David A. Gerber, SUNY-Buffalo, on November 13.
