The University of Memphis Graduate History Association proudly announces the Graduate Student Conference in EUROPEAN HISTORY. Join fellow graduate students and professors for a stimulating weekend in Memphis, Home of the Blues and the Capital of Barbecue.
The three-day conference will include panels ranging from prehistoric Europe to the present. Because of the unique resources of the University of Memphis, with its University Art Museum and Institute of Egyptian Art and Archaeology, this conference also hopes to feature a number of special sessions on the history, art, and archaeology of Ancient Egypt.
Contributions will be welcomed in any field of European history and literature in all periods from prehistory to the present as well as related fields such as archaeology, gender studies, etc. Innovative efforts to cross traditional academic boundaries through interdisciplinary approaches will receive special attention.
Proposals should discuss your paper's thesis, conclusions, and sources consulted in no more than 350 words. All proposals must be typed, double-spaced in 12 point font with one inch margin. Please send your proposal and a curriculum vita to the address below:

All submissions must be received PRIOR to the deadline of November 1, 2000.
Papers will be presented orally within a strict time limit of 25 minutes. Papers of this duration are typically 10 to 12 pages, typed and double-spaced in a 12 point font. Most sessions will consist of three presentations plus commentary. Copies of papers accepted for presentations should be mailed in time to arrive by January 16, 2001.
