The theme of the conference is: "Dangerous Dialogues: Talking Through the Complex Texture of Class, Race, and Gender."

This year's conference will pay special attention to how current teaching and research in the sociology of education may still inadvertently reinforce and oversimplify the complex intersections of race, class, and gender and their educational effect. Of particular importance are the ways in which these intersections are played out through people's multiple and shifting identities and loyalties.
