I work as a researcher at Blakeway Associates, a British television company that specialises in historical, political and social documentaries. I will obviously send a company CV by either e-mail or fax to anyone who requests one in their reply to this mail.
I am currently researching a 50-minute programme, for transmission on Channel 4 (whose content is similar to WGBH), entitled “Hitler’s Women”. As you are doubtless aware, much work has been carried out by psychohistorians over the past few decades into various aspects of Hitler’s life, particularly in areas related to his sexuality.
I am writing in the hope that someone could possibly recommend a psychohistorian (preferably British for filming purposes) who specialises in this area whom I could interview.
I realise that two of the leading works on this subject are Robert Waite’s The Psychopathic God Adolf Hitler, and Bromberg and Volz Small’s highly analytical Hitler’s Psychopathology. Both these works pursue a view that Hitler’s sex life was abnormal in some fashion, whereas, at present, we believe that the evidence we have suggests that it was more normal than has hitherto been acknowledged. I would therefore like to speak with someone who can shed more light on this area, and who would be able to discuss what elements of Hitler’s life contributed to the development of many of his ideas, if his evil cannot be attributed to sexual perversion/abnormality.
Either I or the producer, Fiona Procter, can be contacted on 00 44 20 8743 2040 (a London number) during most office hours, or you can reach either one of us by e-mail (gracechapman@yahoo.co.uk / fionaprocter@hotmail.com).
Many thanks for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to speaking with you soon.
Best wishes
Grace Chapman
