1-2 page abstracts are sought for papers discussing melancholy in 20th century African American literature. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

mourning in the works of one individual author
mourning in individual novels/plays/poems
mourning and periods of African American literature
the multifaceted relationship between melancholy and resistance.
