ABC-CLIO--a California-based academic and reference publisher, well known for its America History and Life and Historical Abstracts series--is seeking an editor for a new academic-reference project tentatively entitled: Encyclopedia of Marches and Demonstrations in American History. The project will cover everything from Bacon's Rebellion to the anti-World Trade Organization demonstrations in Seattle and beyond. Defining what goes into the encyclopedia will ultimately be up to the editor.
We understand, of course, no historian or political scientist is an expert on events across such a broad historical spectrum. Specifically, we are looking for a history or political science PhD who has published in the field--or on related topics--and has an affiliation with an academic or research institution. The tasks of the editor include: conceptualizing the encyclopedia; developing a table of contents; putting together a board of advisors; finding contributing authors; collecting original documents; and editing for content. ABC-CLIO provides copyeditors and other routine back-up support.
