Call for Papers:
Society of the Study of American Women Writers
First International Conference
February 14-18, 2001
St. Anthony Hotel, San Antonio, Texas
Panel Title: "Peeps at the Pilgrims": Women's Historical Romances of the 19th Century.
We are seeking papers which explore the way women writers of the
nineteenth century -- including but not limited to the Jacksonian
era --(re)configure national identity through historical romances set in
Puritan New England.
Potential authors include (but are not limited to) Lydia Maria Child,
Catharine Maria Sedgwick, Harriet Vaughn Cheney, and Eliza Buckminster
Lee.
