The very best conservators and experts in the field will answer questions about fabrics, styles, buttons, trims, and more during this free event. The August 1 discussion will center around civilian clothing, while the second day of the symposium will focus on the construction of Confederate and Federal uniforms.
Scheduled participants include Juanita Leisch, author, Who Wore What?: Women's Wear 1861-1865; Stacy Hampton, manager, The Victorian Society in America; Susan Hughes, editor, The Citizens Companion magazine; K. Krewer, clothing collector and conservator; Les Jensen, author, Johnny Reb: The Uniform of the Confederate Army, 1861-1865; William Brewster, curator, Wisconsin Veterans Museum; Myers Brown, assistant curator, Atlanta History Center; and Robert Hancock, Curator of Military Uniforms for the Museum of the Confederacy.
The event, which will take place in The Civil War Experience Chat Auditorium, is open to any member of the general public using Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher.
