HigherEdWorld Institute is a not-for-profit educational corporation dedicated to assembling a vast data base of rich media course modules. These course modules, including videos, audios, simulations and animations, will be produced by college and university professors and streamed to their students using media servers. The availabilty of such a repository will permit instructors to infuse their courses with interdisiplinary content, while facilitating the transition from the predominantly text-based instructional materials of today to the rich media applications of tomorrow.
At the same time, the web boards that will be established will allow for asynchronous interaction among participating faculty. The web boards will open up limitless possibilites for planning and developing course modules, linking course modules, or creating entire on-line courses in a "open course" model much the same way that computer software is developed. Of course, as the data base of modules expands, it will be made searchable.
For more information about how you and your institution can participate in this project, review our web site. The site contains an application form as well as a sample module which may be viewed using RealPlayer which is a free plug-in.
