The Department of History at the University of Central Florida invites proposals for individual papers, complete panels, and roundtable discussions for a regional conference to be held April 6-7, 2001 focusing on the theme "Community and History in Florida." Papers are particularly welcomed on the definition of "community," the relationship between history and community, and the development of Florida communities broadly defined. We encourage papers that examine community within the context of the American south, the Caribbean, and/or the Atlantic world. The conference is part of the department's three-year series of events on "Community and History." Send a vita (including an e-mail address) and four copies of a one-page abstract to Edmund Kallina at the address below by October 1, 2000.
