Beyond Face Value: Depictions of Slavery in Confederate Currency, an original virtual exhibit, is now available through the web site of the United States Civil War Center at LSU -- http://www.cwc.lsu.edu/cwc/BeyondFaceValue.
Featuring more than 100 digital images of historical currency, Beyond Face Value includes original narratives and analyses of the relationship between art and politics in the Civil War era.
The exhibit was made possible through a grant from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The mission of the United States Civil War Center is to promote the study of the American Civil War from the perspectives of all professions, occupations, and academic disciplines. The center is a department of the LSU Libraries Special Collections Division.
