Ohio Valley History: The Journal of the Cincinnati Historical Society
Call for Submissions
Ohio Valley History, will begin publication in December 2000,
providing a forum for the presentation of scholarship and criticism about
the history of the Ohio Valley region, broadly defined. The journal will
be co-sponsored by the University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati
Historical Society, and it will replace the Historical Society's journal
Queen City Heritage. The new journal will be edited by Wayne K. Durrill
and Christopher Phillips. The journal will ordinarily carry researched,
peer reviewed articles plus two or three essays and several book reviews.
The journal invites
submissions from scholars who have researched and written on any subject
or time period in the Ohio Valley's past. Reviews will encompass essays
on the state of research on a particular subject, controversies involving
the past in the region, and critical reviews of museum exhibitions, films,
television and radio programs, and historical sites and events. Book
reviews will be short essays, not just summaries, and will assess the
significance of the work and its usefulness to a variety of readers. In
addition, we will publish short research notes and documents when such
reports clearly challenge an accepted view among historians.
We hope Ohio Valley History will become the leading historical
journal in this region. Send three copies of submissions (up to 28 pp. in
length and conforming to current Chicago Manual of Style guidelines) to
Wayne K. Durrill or Christopher Phillips , co-editors, at the address below.
