The Southwest/Texas Popular Culture Association and the American Culture Association invite scholars and students to submit proposals in the area of:
Cross Border (Mis)Representation: How Americans and Canadians Portray Each Other in Books, Film and Television.
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
- Portraits of the great white north and the deep south.
- The Canadian rant. (hear the rant at www.iam.ca)
- Draft dodgers and peace keepers.
- Movie muses: the mountie and the ranger.
- The Canadian/American in humour.
- Columbine and Taber: portraits of tragedy.
The conference will be held March 7-11, 2001 at the Sheraton Old Town in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
