World History for the 21st Century
WHA-College Board Summer History Institutes
The World History Association in collaboration with the
College Board is pleased to announce that NEH will fund
the second week of 10 regional world history
institutes throughout the summer in New York, California,
Illinois, Texas, Georgia, and Virginia. The one
originating in Colorado will be presented through
distance learning.
These institutes are for world history educators at colleges,
universities, and schools who want to design new world
history programs based on recent scholarship and develop
new teaching strategies and assessments. Participants will
receive a notebook of scholarly articles, courses of study,
teaching materials and bibliographies. Each institute will be lead
by master scholars and teachers with presentations by authorities
in this rapidly expanding field of study. Afternoons are reserved
for curricular development and peer coaching.
After the institutes have concluded, each program will be critically
reviewed by one of 30 leading authorities in the field including
Adas, Andrea, Bentley, Bulliet, Crosby, Curtin, Manning, McNeill,
Overfield, Reilly, Shaffer, Strayer, Stearns, Upshur, Voll, and
Zinsser.
The institutes are limited to 25 participants. For further information,
dates, and registration fees, please contact the site coordinators
listed
below.
A non-refundable $150 check reserves your place.
