The Interdisciplinary Forum on Military Studies (IFMS) (formerly: 'History: the Military and Society') is now in its seventh year of bringing together young scholars of military studies. The FORUM provides graduate level students whose research addresses military-related topics the opportunity to present their work in a formal academic conference environment. The FORUM also brings together future university professors, government consultants, and military leaders to interact and connect on a professional level. Many participants make contacts and friendships that will last well beyond their graduate training. Although the FORUM is organized each year by members of the University's Department of History, we welcome paper proposals from graduate students in all academic disciplines, especially those in political science, sociology, anthropology, cultural and gender studies, law, medicine, and the physical sciences. Paper presentations are typically 20 minutes in length. Scholars interested in participating in IFMS 2000 should send a one page abstract and current c.v. to the address listed below.
The deadline for submissions is 15 June 2000. Proposals for panels are welcome.
