A one-day conference covering all current issuses regarding asylum seekers and refugees in Ireland. Currently more than 10,000 asylum seekers are in the State awaiting decisions on their applications and further arrivals are running at a rate of approximately 1,000 per month.
If asylum seekers, refugees and immigrants are to be integrated into an increasingly multiethnic Ireland in the coming years, there will be a need to address more fundamental issues about the changing nature of our society.
The conference will bring together academics, public administrators, representatives of non government organisations and voluntary groups,
refugees and asylum seekers. It will seek to define an agenda for integration through the development of local and regional cooperative structures, service provision and research.
Please visit the conference website for more information.
