The Department of Historical Documentation at the Chicago Historical Society is sponsoring a series of four diversity talks that are open to the public. The second talk, by Steven A. Riess, will be on 16 March 2000 at the Chicago Historical Society in the Society Conference Room starting at 3pm. Professor Riess of Northeastern Illinois University will present a talk titled, “Sport, Race, and Ethnicity in Twentieth Century Chicago.” Professor Riess is the author of several books on sports and sports history including Touching Base, City Games, and Sports in the Industrial Age, 1850-1920. He is also the founder and co-chairman of the Chicago Seminar on Sport and Culture.
