Call for proposals for Harcourt's "American Stories" series - Authors Needed

Harcourt College Publishers is seeking submissions for its new "American Stories" series. Each volume in the series will focus upon a central dramatic event in which several major issues and/or themes come together in an especially revealing way. Each will collect the essential primary materials and present them in narrative sequence. Volumes will typically run between 160 and 180 pages with six pages of illustrations. Two books have already appeared: The Triangle Strike and Fire (1998) and This High and Holy Moment: The First National Woman's Rights Convention, Worcester, 1850 (1999). Forthcoming titles include: The Caning of Senator Sumner. Prospective contributors should contact series editor John McClymer, Department of History, Assumption College, Worcester, MA 01609 .
