The 8th Annual Prince William Sound Community College Last Frontier Theatre Conference featuring Edward Albee and Horton Foote, the 2000 recipient of the Edward Albee Last Frontier Playwright Award will be held on June 10-18, 2000, at Valdez, Alaska. (PWSCC is part of University of Alaska.) Other featured artists include Marion Seldes, Lawrence Sacharow, Patricia Neal, Ellen Burstyn, Jean Stapleton, Mel Gussow, and Hallie Foote. Plays are being sought for the Play Lab, a workshop for the stage readings of new works. The panel is headed by Michael Warren Powell, former Artistic Director of the Circle Repertory Company, assisted by such notable playwrights as Timothy Mason and Ed Bullins. Of approximately 50 works selected for the Lab, five outstanding plays will receive the Yukon Pacific New Play Award of $1,000 each. Authors of accepted plays must be registered for the Play Lab and present at the conference for the public reading. No reading fee is charged. Both full-length and one-act plays will be considered. No children's plays or musicals will be accepted.
