A ONE-DAY CONFERENCE ON LATER MEDIEVAL BRISTOL
Organised by the Regional History Centre of the University of the West of England and the Bristol Diocesan Board of Education, this conference will take place in the All Saints Centre in the historic All Saints Church, at the heart of the old town.
All Saints Church was an important focus of both religious and civic life in the later Middle Ages, and the conference reflects this link, with papers on the church and its parish, society and politics at a time when Bristol was host to both the Atlantic explorers John and Sebastian Cabot, and to William Worcestre the Bristol-born pioneer of local history and topography, whose Survey of Bristol gives us a fascinating insight into the people and environment of fifteenth century Bristol.
