Hosted by the University of Manchester (England), Manchester University Press, and the Cormac McCarthy Society.
June 22nd-24th, 2000.
We invite proposals for papers, discussion panels, or full-length paper
panels, on any subject dealing with Cormac McCarthy's stories, novels,
plays and screenplays. Proposals exploring connections between
McCarthy's Southern and Western fiction will be particularly welcome, as will proposals reading McCarthy through the application of
critical/political theory. We also encourage proposals offering
interdisciplinary treatments of McCarthy's work.
Individual papers should be readable within 15-20 minutes.
Discussion panel proposals should anticipate 3-5 readers making 5 minute topic statements followed by up to 50 minutes of moderated discussion time.
Full-length paper panels should include 3 or 4 presentations, plus
a detailed formal response from the chair.
All paper and panel proposals should be submitted in the form of a
400-600 word abstract by March 24th 2000. Proposals may be submitted by
email to: d.j.holloway@onet.co.uk
