The European Summer School in Local Governement Studies is the fifth of its
kind to be arranged by the EUROLOC network for Ph.D students, this year
(3-12 July 2000) in Bordeaux. The general theme will be : "New Challenges to
Local Democracy".
It is supported by the European Union (Socrates Program) and by the ECPR
(European Consortium for Political Research).
The primary intent of the summer school is to give Ph.D. students and
opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other students working within
the field of local governement studies.
The program will include a series of lectures (18 h) organized around a
selected theme as well as workshops and exercices. The program is open to a
maximum of 40 students who will be accepted on the basis of applications.
It is important to stress that students with interests relating to all
aspects of local government, not only interests relating to the theme of the
lecture series, are welcome to apply. Emphasis will be placed on securing a
broad geographic reprsentation. Students attached to a doctoral program
outside the EURO-LOC network are therefore encouraged to apply.
