I have organized a nearly complete panel for the upcoming conference of the AHA in Boston. Approaching narratives of transgressive urban sexualities from a comparative US/European perspective, this panel should make an interesting contribution to the conference proceedings. The papers focus individually on the practice of "treating" in NYC, call boys and the regulation of same-sex prostitution in Berlin, and a notorious Chicago murder case involving a transgendered suspect. The panel has received co-sponsorship with the Committee on Lesbian and Gay History and will be chaired by Jane Caplan.
Due to a last minute hitch, we find ourselves in search of a new commentator. Anyone interested should please contact me at the enclosed email address. The deadline for panel submissions is February 15, 2000.
