I am interested in creating a panel on the topic of “Comparative Approaches and the Historical Narrative” for the AHA’s annual meeting (year 2001). Papers presented at this session would deal with some aspect of comparative history such as cross-cultural studies, transnational movements, or imperialism/colonialism and the historiographical methods and practices which are most helpful for this approach to scholarship. My area of interest is Anglo-Muslim relations during the late 19th-century. However, I am interested in co-panelists from all time periods and geographic regions.
