The Sixth International Conference on the Short Story in English will be held at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa from October 12-15, 2000. The theme of the conference is "Short Fiction: 2000" and the conference will be in celebration of the growth of the genre over the past two hundred years. The conference is held every two years, the last one being in New Orleans in 1998. The conference is co-sponsored by the Society for the study of the Short Story (SSSS), and the Iowa Writers Workshop. The conference director is Dr. Maurice A. Lee, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA). The President of the SSSS is Dr. Susan Lohafer.
