This announcement about a great summer program we have here at Clemson University that we are opening to students from other schools. The program is a six week summer study / tour of Asia, where we take a small group of students to six cities in Asia during for 40 day trek. This year’s trip will go to Tokyo, Kyoto, Beijing, Hong Kong, Phuket and Bangkok. The students take a 3 credit hour course in international economics along the way. All the information can be found at http://business.Clemson.edu/oia/asia.htm including dates and costs. The price is $3775, and this includes all hotels, transport, and airfare. Considering the number of miles that will be covered and the length of the trip, this really is an amazing price.
The trip is a fabulous opportunity for a student who is interested in the economy, history and culture of Asia, and who really wants to experience it first hand. I was involved in last year’s trip and the impact it had on the students who attended the trip was tremendous. We are lucky to be able to show them a wide range of what Asia is, from the dynamic growth of Thailand, to the established wealth of Japan. However this is not a trip for anyone. The extensive travel in and out of multiple countries makes it important that the students who do attend are responsible and conscientious, along with being adventuresome and energetic.
We only have a limited number of spots left, so if interested please contact Francie Edwards at the Office of International Affairs here at Clemson as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us as well.
