The Finnish American Reporter, a monthly journal published by the Työmies Society, a nonprofit organization, and serving Finns and Finnish Americans in North America seeks brief (1000 to 2500 words) articles for possible publication. Essays may examine any topic in Finnish or Finnish American history, but the editor is particularly interested in papers which highlight individuals and events that have not achieved icon status and thus are less well known to American readers. That is, heroes other than Mannerheim, designers and architects other than the Saarinens, composers other than Sibelius, athletes other than Paavo Nurmi. Readers of the Reporter include both scholars and the general public so essays should be written in a style accessible to a lay audience. Reviews of recent books are also welcome. Specific writing guidelines and a sample copy of the Reporter can be obtained by contacting the editor. Submissions can be mailed to The Finnish American Reporter or e-mailed directly to the editor, Nancy Farm Männikkö.
