Call for submissions for The Politics of Healing: Essays on the History
of Alternative Medicine, an anthology examining the history of
alternative and oppositional medical therapies and ideologies in the
twentieth-century United States. The editors are seeking articles that
document the persistence and/or reemergence of alternative medicine
after the legal-intellectual establishment of mainstream medical
practice. Topics and modes of inquiry are open, but the editors
especially encourage submissions that suggest linkages between
alternative healing regimes and oppositional politics and culture.
Proposals should include cover letter, one-page c.v., and an abstract of
at least 250 words, and may be submitted in hard copy or email format.
Send one copy of the proposal to each of the co-editors listed below.
Deadline for submissions: 15 November 1999.
