The history of childhood is making online history! Historians Robert
Bremner, Ray Hiner, Joseph Hawes, Joseph Illick, Wilma King, and Kriste
Lindenmeyer have served on an advisory panel to help Connect for Kids add a
strong historical perspective to its Web site
(http://www.connectforkids.org).
Connect for Kids, a project of the Benton Foundation, uses Internet
communications to inform, inspire and engage people to act to improve the
lives of children at the community, state and national level. Each
historian has written an article for the Web site, in addition to helping
the Connect for Kids team identify key themes and storylines in the
history of childhood for future multimedia development.
You can read Joe Illick's discussion of kids and TV, Kriste
Lindenmeyer's review of the Children's Bureau, and Ray Hiner's
history of public education at http://www.connectforkids.org.
Future articles will be posted soon.
