The National Archives Assembly is pleased to announce that
Mr. Rick Barry, of Barry Associates, will present the American debut of a documentary of importance to Archivists, Records Managers, and Historians on Tuesday October 12, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at the National Archives in College Park, Maryland. All are invited.
The "Heiner Affair," produced by and originally appearing on the Australian Television Channel 9 Current Affair Program Sunday in February 1999, presents a fascinating view of the "Heiner Affair," which concerns the destruction of records sought in a legal action against the Queensland State Government at the direction of the Queensland Cabinet, with the approval of the Queensland State Archivist.
The destruction of these records, and ensuing events, has raised a number of questions concerning archival and records management responsibility around the world.
The video presentation, part of an ongoing series of events co-sponsored by the National Archives Assembly and the D.C. Caucus of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference during Archives Week (October 10 - 16, 1999), will be on October 12, 1999, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., and is being held at the Auditorium of the National Archives and Records Administration, 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD 20740.
Please attend what promises to be a most interesting and thought provoking event.
