“VOYAGES THROUGH AN INNER BRAZIL: AN ART EXHIBIT.”
The works presented in this exhibit examine poignant issues of Brazilian life, i.e., the country’s prison system, education, racism, social inequalities, and the killing of black children nationwide. As a visual artist Vieira also attempts to capture nature and its components primarily in impressionistic ways. He strives to comprehensively project the brilliance of all colors either through light tonalities or through more intensive and somber tones. His observation of nature, and hence its portrayal , conveys what he perceives to be an intrinsic relationship between men and nature. Through this topic, Vieira examines the human plight, particularly that of Black peoples in Lusophone countries like Brazil, his native land. Post-impressionist conceptual methods of representation are also used to underscore the unconventional inter-relationship of some of his subjects.
Vieira uses poetry to describe each of his paintings.
