Call for Papers, Symposium, Feb. 18-19, 2000, Birmingham, Alabama. Following the 1999 meeting at the University of Southern Mississippi, the Association announces that its 2000 meeting will be sponsored by the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Birmingham, site of the medical institutions, is served by interstate highways, Amtrak and major air carriers, including American, Delta, Northwest, Southwest and United Airlines.
The Association welcomes papers on history of medicine and science, broadly construed to include historical, literary, anthropological, philosophical, and sociological approaches as well as internal studies. Participants may propose individual papers or complete sessions of several papers devoted to a particular topic or theme.
Please submit a brief abstract of each paper and one-page c.v. with phone/fax and e-mail addresses. Prospective participants should not submit papers already published, already presented or scheduled for presentation at another meeting. Send proposals to Michael Flannery at address below.
Deadline for submitting proposals: Nov. 15, 1999.
Final program will be announced by Dec. 3, 1999.
