A ONE-DAY CONFERENCE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF HISTORICAL STUDIES, UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL, Saturday March 11th 2000
Themes to be explored include: women and the post-war world; the influence of the sixties; the theory and politics of the movement; women, class and trade unionism; the politics of sexuality; racism and the women's movement; art and literature, personal memoirs and the history of the movement; Papers on other areas will also be considered. The focus of the conference is on Britain but papers with a comparative angle are welcome. Proposals from individuals outside of higher education are most welcome.
Proposals of not more than 800 words (for papers of 20 minutes) should be sent to the conference organiser no later than December 15th 2000. Those wishing to discuss their personal memories of the movement should also send an outline of the main points to be covered.
