Eisenhower Seminar: Cold War Thaw - 1959
|
|
The fourth annual Eisenhower Seminar, "Cold War Thaw - 1959", will be held October 30, 1999 at the Gettysburg Cyclorama Center in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Sponsored by the Eisenhower National Historic Site and The Friends of the National Parks at Gettysburg, this year's seminar recalls Premier Nikita Khrushchev's visit to America in the fall of '59. With the Khrushchev-Eisenhower meetings at Gettysburg and Camp David as backdrop, a distinguished group of Eisenhower scholars will examine how the Eisenhower administration managed the crises of the Cold War. Among those sharing their perspectives and experiences will be: General Andrew J. Goodpaster, Eisenhower's White House Staff Secretary and assistant on foreign affairs; Dr. Peter J. Roman, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Political Science at Duquesne University and author of Eisenhower and the Missile Gap; and Dr. Jack M. Holl, Professor of History at Kansas State University. Registration is $35.00. For further information call Eisenhower NHS at (717) 338-9114.
