To commemorate the founding of NCIS in 1989, we are publishing a special
anniversary issue of The Independent Scholar. It will contain revised versions
of some of the papers presented at our most recent national conference, plus
articles on other topics, such as public intellectuals, publishing, and
maintaining a scholarly identity as an independent.
There is still time to submit a paper on a topic clearly related to the
interests, needs, concerns, or activities of independent scholars worldwide.
(We are not seeking papers on topics of personal scholarly interest.)
Reviews of relevant books and electronic resources will also be considered.
Articles can be brief notes (up to 1,000 words) or longer pieces (up to 3,500
words). Queries about projects that fall outside these guidelines are
welcome.
The absolutely final deadline for submissions is August 31, 1999
