I've written a proposal for a book on China's two opium wars with Great Britain during the 19th century, which a publisher, Grove/Atlantic, has expressed some interest in.
However, the publisher would like me to collaborate on this book with someone from an academic background. I am a nationally known journalist and have published seven books, but they have all dealt with the entertainment industry. The publisher feels I need an academic collaborator to give my book credibility. You can check out my books by typing my last name, SANELLO, into Amazon.Com's search directory.
I have written a 40-page proposal which consists of a complete first chapter and a chapter-by-chapter outline of the rest of the book. I would be happy to email the proposal to any potential collaborator.
The tentative title for my book is "They Simply Addicted a Nation:
China’s Opium Wars With Britain."
My agent in Beverly Hills, Mike Hamilburg, says we can get a sizable advance from the publisher.
If you are interested and have a background in Chinese history, please call me at (323) 650-8458 or email me at FSanello@AOL.com
