The keynote speaker at the conference will be Professor Luise White of the University of Florida. We will also have a panel of commentators on the theme of the conference including Professor Cecilia Coimbra of the Universidade Federal Fluminense in Brazil (who has researched political 'disappearances' in Brazil and their effects) Dr Gyanendra Pandey (Subaltern Studies) of John Hopkins University and Dr Achille Mbembe of CODESRIA.
