Description: The 4th Biannual Austrian Conference on Contemporary History 99
takes place at the University Center Wall in Graz on three consecutive
days from May 27th to May 29th and is related to three main topics.
The first day "Promoting History" discusses the specific relation of
academics and the public. Opening session on History and Film with special
guest film director Marcel Ophuls. Specials: MediaNight, Performance of
the Equipe Historique Hèrbért on the Relation of Social Science and Pop.
The second day "Globalization" focuses on one of the main topics of today.
Opening Session with Roland Robertson, Manfred Fassler and Ravi Sundaram.
The third day "Identity" is trying to describe Identity as social construction
and as a "signature" of the 20th century.
- film-festival "schnittstellen/histoires" at the KIZ, a cinema in Graz
- video-installations at the ESC, a cultural laboratory in Graz.
