For Secondary and Post-secondary Instructors
The Russian and East European Center (REEC) at the University of Illinois
invites secondary and post-secondary instructors to take part in this five-day
workshop to develop a more effective and interactive curriculum in Russian
studies.
The workshop will include the following and more:
§ A session on interactive curriculum development;
§ A session on how to use the Internet and design your own webpage;
§ A session on using feature and documentary films in classrooms;
§ Lectures on Russia Past and Present by specialists in the field.
The workshop will also serve as an opportunity for interested teachers to meet
and exchange their ideas and experiences. The workshop will be held in
conjunction with the REEC Summer Research Lab (SRL), which brings over 200
scholars throughout the summer to the University of Illinois to conduct
research in its Slavic Library and discuss the region. The workshop
participants will have opportunities to interact with scholars in the SRL.
The workshop features a one-day conference on "Religion, Spirituality and
Identity in Modern Russia and Eurasia," in which specialists on various
religions in Russia will give presentations. The one-day conference is open to
the public.
At the end of the workshop, the participants will receive a certificate of
completion from REEC.
9-12 teachers and community college instructors are strongly encouraged to
participate in the workshop.
REEC will provide free lodging for the participants.
