OCTOBER 4-22: NOMINATIONS OPEN. Nominations close at 12:01 am on
October 22. All nominees are required to announce candidacy, provide a statement to HNET-Staff, and answer queries on-line. Self-nominations are welcome; "seconds" to nominations are not necessary and will be held by the HNET-STAFF editor for delayed posting during the campaign period. A nominee may withdraw at any time. Posting of a nominating statement by a candidate constitutes acceptance of nomination. When nominating someone, please limit your message to a simple statement to that effect.
Endorsements or other expressions of opinion about candidates, aside from the candidate's own position statement, will be held until the campaign season.
OCTOBER 21: Last day of "Registration"; HNET-Staff subscribers entered after that date are not eligible to vote unless specially cleared by the H-Net Council. Please contact Associate Director Jim Sleight with questions concerning address and staff membership verification.
OCTOBER 22, 12:01 a.m. NOMINATIONS CLOSE.
OCTOBER 22-NOVEMBER 10: Campaign Season. HNET-STAFF will circulate initial candidate position statements when the candidate posts his or her announcement. HNET-STAFF will hold all other campaign messages until the campaign season begins. During this period, candidates answer queries by HNET-STAFF members and general discussion of the issues proceeds.
NOVEMBER 11-14 inclusive: vote. The ballot will be circulated at this time, and it will contain instructions where to send it. Voting begins at 12:01 AM, US EST, November 11. The polls will remain open until November 14 12:01 AM, US EST. We are permitting an extra three early days, the 9th through to the 11th, to cast "absentee" ballots, in addition to the required 72 hour voting window, to permit people with varying schedules and limited connection opportunities to get their ballots in.
