Garden and Forest

A joint project of the Library of Congress Preservation Reformatting Division, the University of Michigan Making of America project, and the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University has placed online a digitized version of the important periodical Garden and Forest: A Journal of Horticulture, Landscape Art, and Forestry (1888-1897), which covered park planning and the origins of urban planning in the U.S.A.

Access to public domain maps digitized and posted on a regular basis by the Geography and Map Division of the Library of Congress. The online digitized maps are a small part of the inventory of "over 5 million maps, 72,000 atlases, 6,000 reference works, over 500 globes and globe gores, and numerous plastic relief models, and a large number of cartographic materials in other formats, including electronic."

The GEOnet Names Server (GNS) provides access to the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) database of geographic feature names. Information in this database has been used to prepare and publish the series of gazetteers approved by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (US BGN).
