On September the 5th and 6th in Dakar the African Institute for Democracy organised a seminar on "Women and Democracy" in Senegal.
Many female activists attended the conference. The conclusions were that despite many improvments, women's fight had suffered from:
- Isolated actions.
- Many restrictions were encouraging discriminations against women on a political, economic and social level
Then it was decided to create a unique national organization representing the different political and non political organizations.
COSEF was created on March the 11th 1995.
